What does a guy do when he wins a diamond pendant? Just ask Jorda Young, the grand-prize winner of Jewelers Mutual’s  Some Like It Haute sweepstakes in partnership with Platinum Guild International and Simon G. Jewelry.

Jorda said his first reaction when hearing he won the beautiful platinum and diamond Simon G. pendant was, “Great, the first thing I ever win gets to go to someone else!” Joking aside, Jorda has big plans for the pendant. As any good husband would do, he’s planning on giving the pendant to his wife. “She is currently pregnant with our first child. I hope to hold onto it until that special day,” said Jorda.

That’s one well-deserved “push” gift! With the baby due in March, the hardest part for Jorda will likely be how to keep it a secret until the little one’s arrival.

Last week, Kristina presented her mom, Janell, with the beautiful butterfly necklace featuring .21 carats of natural pink diamonds set in a 18-kt pink and white gold chain won in our recent Rock Mom’s World contest (in partnership with the Natural Color Diamond Association). The first words out of Janell’s mouth were, “Oh my gosh!”  Kristina told us that her mom looked at her with big eyes then looked back at the necklace and said, “I am going to be so nervous wearing this!”

I am getting married next year and me and my fiancée have spent a lot of time trying to keep things in our budget. Then my mom came into the picture. She made the down deposit on the venue; she bought the dress (including the veil, slip, and bra). She has done so much for us financially and emotionally. She even got our booking number for our honeymoon (an Alaskan cruise) so that she can contact the cruise line and surprise us with things throughout the cruise. There is no way that I could ever afford to pay her back and she knows it. Outside of my life she is helping my other siblings. My sister got a divorce and her and her 3 year old son are living with my parents and my mom babysits during the day. My other sister was laid off and she lives in their house free of change. My brother and his wife were both laid off from the same company. My mom let them and their two dogs move in. She helped them with their wedding as well. The just moved out and she helped them move. Before they moved out of her house there were 6 adults, a 3 year old, and 3 dogs in their home. My mom never asked for anything and still isn’t. She deserves this more than anything and I would love for her to win this!

She is such a selfless individual always thinking of others first, especially her family, she inspires me so I can be a great Mom to my daughter too. Thanks Mom, you rock!
• William: My mom rocks because while all of us five kids needed comfort, she knew that holding us in her arms and rocking us gave us comfort we couldn’t find anywhere else. Mom has always been a place of encouragement, support, and love throughout the years. She has continued showing this type of love to her grandchildren and even to her great grandchildren. Mom has been the cornerstone of our faith and has set a consistent example of integrity and compassion to all her family and friends. I am extremely blessed to have a mother like her. Throughout life’s trials and difficulties mom has remained steadfast in her love for God and her family. So you ask why my mom rocks? It’s because she IS a rock….solid, always there, dependable, and one we can cling to in the midst of a storm. Mom has given each of us kids wings to fly as we all stand on the firm foundation of our faith. What a wonderful gift it would be to have the symbol of rocks and butterfly lying next to her heart as she wears a necklace of such beauty. By the way….did I mention MY MOM ROCKS!
• Michael: My Mother is mine and my brother and sisters Rock. She is the strongest person i know. She has been there for all 3 of us children. We lost our father Jan 24th of last year. Our mother at the time divorced to my father and remarried spent every day and minute at St. Vincent’s Hospital next to my father’s side for over six months this shows Love in its purists form. Our father was scared of death and A.R.D.S. is a very scary thing. Not only was she there for us to help us from breaking down most important she was there for him. She is by far the greatest lady I know; to this day she is still our rock. There are many days where we feel like giving up and she reminds us our father was a fighter and giving up is not an option. I have a huge hole in my heart from losing my dad. My mom understands this. I’m not sure what I would do if something were to ever happen to her. She is a angel here on earth. One that cares more about family and friends and puts things on hold for herself all the time. Just seems like Mother’s Day is one day that everything else should be put on hold just for her. Happy Mother’s day to the greatest mom a son could ever have or wish for.
